Data Policy

  1. When does nuWeb collect my data?

    nuWeb collects your information when you use the nuWeb platform or otherwise communicate with nuWeb (e.g., sign up or apply to use nuWeb, use nuWeb, communicate with our helpdesk and other nuWeb representatives).

  2. What data does nuWeb collect?

    All the data collected by nuWeb can be divided into mandatory personal data, other personal and nonpersonal data that you share with others on nuWeb, and automatically collected data.

    1. Mandatory Personal Data

      This data must be provided by each user in order to register for and use nuWeb. We require it to identify each user in the system and to enable system operations as a whole:

      • E–mail address,
      • First name,
      • Last name,
      • Username.
    2. Other Personal Data

      This data may be provided by users and facilitates the usage of the system. Basically, this is your personal data that you want to share with other nuWeb users. Such personal data may include the following:

      • Gender details,
      • Address details,
      • Phone numbers,
      • Date of birth,
      • Information about hobbies and interests,
      • Employment history,
      • Other personal information that you choose to share,
      • Avatars and cover photos.
      • This data will be visible only in those parts of the system and only to those users for which it is intended. For example, if you have provided employment history details in your business profile, they will be visible only to users who are your business contacts; if you share personal information in a conversation with other users, only addressees to whom you have sent this information in nuWeb will be able to see it.

    3. Other information that you share or create in nuWeb

      In order to provide access to the information that you have shared in nuWeb, we collect and keep the following:

      • Text content you share,
      • Files you share,
      • Locations you share,
      • Images you share,
      • RoEs you create and/or use.
      • This data will be visible only in those parts of the system and only to those users for which it is intended. For example, if you have shared your location in a conversation, only addressees to whom you have sent this information in nuWeb will be able to see it.

    4. Phone number and contacts

      nuWeb does not use phone numbers as unique identifiers, but you may add and verify your phone number.

      We ask your permission before importing your phone contacts.

      We do not store your phone contacts.

    5. Data about your actions in the system

      In order to keep the system working, we collect and store information about the actions you perform in the system. These include the following:

      • Details of the actions you have performed with text, images, or file contents in nuWeb,
      • Information about your relations with other users in the system,
      • Locations you share,
      • Information about system functionalities you have used.
      • This information is used to display your reactions and to improve your user experience by, for example, providing you "recent" search result.

    6. User agent collected data

      “User agent” refers to the software that acts as the bridge between nuWeb, the user (you), and the internet. It collects the following data:

      • Operating system on the device that connects to nuWeb,
      • Location of each request (via IP),
      • Browser and version used for each request,
      • Time and location of each login.
      • User-agent string and IP geolocations are proven and secure ways of information collection that enable us to ensure prompt and appropriate operation of our products and to provide a stable level of high-quality service. The collected information is used only for internal needs and only as required to provide the best possible service quality. This information cannot be retrieved from the system and is not visible to any third parties for any other than the purposes stated above.

  3. What information should I receive when I provide my personal data?

    You will receive information that includes, without limitation, the following:

    • Name of the company or organization that is processing your data (including the contact details of the DPO, if any)
    • Purposes for which this company/organization will use your data
    • categories of the personal data concerned,
    • legal basis for processing your personal data,
    • Categories of the personal data concerned,
    • Legal basis for processing your personal data,
    • Data retention time (how long your data will be stored)
    • Whether any other companies/organizations will receive your data and, if yes, which ones,
    • Whether your data will be transferred outside of the EU,
    • Information on your basic data protection rights (e.g., the right to access and transfer data or have it removed)
    • Information on your right to lodge a complaint with a Data Protection Authority (DPA)
    • Information on your right to withdraw your consent at any time;
    • Details of the automated decision-making and the logic involved (if any) and the consequences thereof.

    The information will be presented in a concise, transparent, intelligible way and drafted in clear and plain language.

  4. How does nuWeb collect my data?

    Most of the data is uploaded to nuWeb directly by you. Also, we use user agent and IP-based geolocations. We do not use any beacons.

  5. How does nuWeb use my data?

    In this perspective, NuWeb today is acting as a data-sharing system. We store the data and provide access to it to other users, subject to your requests and intent. We also use the collected data to improve our service quality.

    The following statistics are gathered based on the data:

    • Response time for all requests,
    • Response time for location–based request.

    In the shortest time we will also implement certain user-based statistics:

    • Amount of data created in terms of the data type and user,
    • Amount of content–related activities in terms of the activity type and user,
    • Connections between different users.
  6. When can I exercise my right to restrict processing of my personal data?

    Basically, the right to restrict personal data processing may be exercised if it is not clear whether and when personal data will have to be deleted. That right can be exercised when any of the following apply:

    • The accuracy of the data in question is contested,
    • You don’t want the data to be erased,
    • The data is no longer needed for the original purpose but may not be deleted yet be deleted because of legal considerations,
    • The decision regarding your objection to processing is pending.
  7. Can I ask nuWeb to stop processing my personal data?

    You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data and to ask nuWeb to stop processing your personal data in cases in which it is being processed for the following purposes:

    • Direct marketing,
    • Scientific/historical research and statistics,
    • nuWeb's own legitimate interest or to carry out a task in the public interest/for an official authority.

    Should you object to the use of your data for the purposes of direct marketing, nuWeb will cease using it, in compliance with your request and without a fee.

    nuWeb can, however, continue to process your personal data despite your objections if any of the following apply:

    • Processing for the purposes of scientific/historical research and statistics is necessary in order to perform a task carried out for reasons of public interest.
    • Processing is based on nuWeb's legitimate interests or performed to carry out a task in the public interest or for an official authority and there is proof of relevant compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms. A balanced approach is therefore required.
    • Processing is based on nuWeb's own legitimate interest or to carry out a task in the public interest or for an official authority.

    If there are any changes, nuWeb will inform you about your rights.

  8. Does nuWeb use cookies?

    We use cookies to keep tokens and names on users’ local storage, but we do not process these or any other personal data.

  9. Does nuWeb use beacons?

    No.

    My data is incorrect—can I correct it?

    If you believe that your personal data is incorrect, incomplete, or inaccurate, you can ask nuWeb to correct it. nuWeb will do so without undue delay (generally, within one month) or provide you with a written refusal to perform your request and the reasoning therefor.

  11. How can I edit my information in nuWeb?

    In settings page you can edit your data except for username.

  12. How can I deactivate my account in nuWeb?

    You can deactivate your nuWeb account at any time. Once you have done so, no one will be able to access your data.

  13. Does nuWeb have processes and controls in place to detect, report and investigate data breaches?

    Not yet, but we are working on it.

  14. Is nuWeb able to report any detected data breaches that may relate to personal data within 24 hours?

    Not yet, but we are working on it.

  15. Can I ask nuWeb to delete my personal data?

    You can ask that your personal data be deleted if, for example, the data is no longer needed by nuWeb or it has been used unlawfully. Personal data provided when you were a child can be deleted at any time.

    You can delete your data from nuWeb at any time. Once you have deleted it, no one will be able to access it.

    In the near future, we will implement the Account Deactivation feature. Once an account has been deactivated, all information published by the user will be deleted.

    In addition, we are now working on the Access Management functionality that will let users precisely define who can see their data.

  16. How can I see my data in nuWeb?

    Your personal nuDomain allows you to see your profile information on your profile pages.

  17. Can I be subject to automated individual decision-making, including profiling?

    Profiling is done by some services and applications when your personal aspects are being evaluated in order to make predictions about you, even if no decision is taken. However, nuWeb does not use those types of functions.

  18. Does nuWeb allow me to access all of my personal data?

    Yes, you can access all of your data, and you can also restrict access to your data for other users by means of the access policies.

  19. Is nuWeb able to fulfill / respond to a noncomplex subject request within 30 days of receipt?

    Yes, we can provide a response to a simple request within one month. Upon receipt of a written request from the user and information verifying the user’s identity (to eliminate risk of unauthorized disclosure), we undertake to provide, in compliance with the user’s request and within one month of its receipt, (1) information regarding whether or not the personal data has been processed, (2) a description of the data, (3) the purposes and recipients of the data, and (4) a copy of all personal data held.

  20. How does nuWeb protect my data?

    Data security is one of our top priorities. To secure your personal details and any other data shared or automatically collected in nuWeb, we use a secure server with strong access restrictions and regular firewall limitations.

  21. How is information about my religious beliefs, sexual orientation, health, and political views protected?

    The following special categories of your personal data are deemed “sensitive” and shall receive specific protection under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

    • Racial or ethnic origin,
    • Political opinions,
    • Religious or philosophical beliefs,
    • Trade union membership,
    • Processing of genetic data,
    • Biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person,
    • Health,
    • Sex life or sexual orientation.

    As a general rule, processing of the types of data listed above is prohibited. However, under certain derogations, nuWeb may be allowed to process sensitive personal data, as, for example, in the following cases:

    • You have made your sensitive data manifestly public.
    • You have given your explicit consent.
    • There is a law that governs a specific type of data processing for a specific purpose related to public interest or health.
    • A law, subject to adequate safeguards, provides for processing of the sensitive personal data in areas such as public health, employment, and social protection.
  22. What happens if data I have shared is leaked?

    A personal data breach occurs when there’s a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of, or access to the personal data processed. Should such a breach take place with regard to nuWeb, nuWeb, as holder of the personal data, will immediately and with no undue delay inform the corresponding supervisory authority thereof. Should such a personal data breach be likely to endanger or result in a high risk with respect to your rights and freedoms, and if the risk has not been mitigated, you shall also be informed

  23. How long can nuWeb keep my data?

    Unless you decide to delete your data, we are ready and able to store it in nuWeb for an unlimited time.

  24. What kind of notifications does nuWeb push me?
    • Relationship: contact Requests
    • Conversations: messages, mentions, quotes, reactions and calls.
    • Content: posts, comments, mentions, quotes and reactions.
    • Information about privacy and content visibility of user
  25. What are the nuWeb's privacy considerations?

    The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR"), effective May 25, 2018.

  26. How can I access my personal data held by nuWeb?

    You are entitled to ask nuWeb for and to obtain from nuWeb information on whether or not it holds any of your personal data. Should nuWeb hold your personal data, you are entitled to access that data, to be provided with a copy thereof, and to obtain any relevant additional information (e.g., the reason for processing your personal data, the categories of your personal data used, etc.). Request for confirmation and further details can be sent from your nuWeb account settings page.

    We shall make all reasonable efforts to keep your right to access easy to exercise and available at reasonable intervals. nuWeb will provide you with a copy of your personal data free of charge. Any further copies may be subject to a reasonable fee. Should the data be requested electronically (e.g., by email), the information, unless otherwise requested by you, shall also be provided in a commonly used electronic form.

    This right is not absolute: exercise of your right to access your personal data should not affect the rights and freedoms of others, including their trade secrets or intellectual property.

  27. Can I ask nuWeb to send me my personal data so that I can use it somewhere else?

    Yes, and you can also ask for your personal data to be transferred directly to another company whose services you would like to use, if this is technically feasible.

  28. Does nuWeb provide my data to any third-parties?

    We at nuWeb highly respect your privacy and will never share your data with any third party. Only other nuWeb users can see your information, and only subject to your desire to share it.

    We may engage third-party service providers to administer and provide our services. We may provide personal information to such third parties only for the purpose of performing services on our behalf.

    Currently, we use these providers:

    • BelugaCDN service to share static data including:
      • Images and files users upload to nuWeb,
      • Static files for nuWeb frontend-compiled source code
    • Twilio service to send and receive text messages through nuWeb.

    We require such third parties to agree not to disclose your personal information or use your personal information for any other purpose.

  29. What does nuWeb do if there is a legal request for information?

    Upon a valid court order or search warrant, we can access, save, and share the information.

    We will notify the affected users about any such requests, unless this is prohibited by law or court order.

  30. Can children use nuWeb?

    No one under the age of 13 is allowed to use nuWeb and nuWeb services.

  31. Can personal data about children be collected?

    Additional protection is granted to this type of personal data since children are less aware of the risks and consequences of data sharing and of their rights. Any information addressed specifically to a child should be adapted to be easily accessible, using clear and plain language.

    The age threshold for obtaining parental consent is established by each EU member state and varies from 13 to 16 years old. Specific age thresholds can be checked with the corresponding national data protection authority.

    nuWeb shall make all reasonable efforts (including the use of available technological solutions) to ensure the validity of the given consent and its compliance with applicable laws. Such efforts may involve the implementation of age-verification measures, e.g., the use of access questions that an average child would not be able to answer or requesting minors to provide their parents' written consent via email.

    Preventive or counseling services offered directly to children are exempted from the requirement for parental consent, as they seek to protect the child’s best interests.

  32. What does nuWeb do with harmful, illegal, or inappropriate information?

    If information is found that is harmful, illegal, or inappropriate, it will be deleted. In case of a severe or repeated infringement, the publisher may be blocked.

  33. What happens if I follow a third-party link?

    nuWeb conversations may contain links to other websites and services. Any information that you provide on or to a third-party website or service is provided directly to the owner of the website or service and is subject to that party's privacy policy. Our privacy policy does not apply to such websites or services and we are not responsible for the content, privacy, or security practices and policies of those websites or services.

  34. How will I learn if nuWeb’s data policy is altered?

    Upon any changes to nuWeb’s data policy, we will notify all our users with a dedicated email and with information on our landing page.
